New Product Launch | 1200V/40A Mid-Frequency IGBT
2026.07.01
Against the backdrop of industrial motor drive systems continuously evolving toward higher efficiency, higher power density, and higher reliability, power devices are rapidly evolving from "simple switching components" to "system efficiency core driver units." Lonten Semiconductor's latest 1200V/40A IGBT product—LKB40N120UM1—uses Field Stop Trench IGBT technology to achieve system-level optimization between conduction losses, switching dynamic characteristics, and thermal stability, providing highly reliable power switching solutions for loads such as fans, pumps, and compressors driven by industrial variable frequency drives.

01 Product Features
Lower on-resistance: This device maintains an extremely low saturation voltage drop across the entire temperature range, with a typical value of only 1.5V at room temperature, and remains below 1.9V as the junction temperature rises to 175°C. This feature effectively reduces conduction losses, lessens the burden on the cooling system, and provides strong support for the entire unit to achieve IE3/IE4 energy efficiency levels, especially suited to the load characteristics of fans, pumps, compressors, and other long-cycle continuous operation.
Better switching losses: Under VCC=600V/IC=40A, the device exhibits balanced switching dynamic performance.
Activation delay td(on)=69ns, rise time tr=49ns;
Turn-off delay td(off) = 282ns, fall time tf = 228ns;
Turn-on loss Eon = 2.7mJ, turn-off loss Eoff = 3.3mJ, total switching energy 6.0mJ.
Its precise and controllable switching characteristics allow it to maintain low losses even under medium-frequency PWM modulation, supporting better dynamic current control response while reducing thermal design pressure, meeting the speed regulation requirements of general-purpose inverters.
Stronger thermal stability and reliability: With the precise regulation of electric field distribution by the Field Stop Trench structure, the device maintains stable switching performance under high temperature and high current stress, enabling it to withstand the harsh conditions of long-term, high-load industrial operation and helping to extend the system's mean time between failures.
02 Comparison with industry benchmark measured data
Test conditions: VGE=15V, IC=40A, Pulse Width=200μs
Conduction loss comparison: Lonten IGBT LKB40N120UM1 saturation voltage drop VCE (on) is only 1.48V, outperforming two industry benchmark products. It generates less heat and higher conduction efficiency during high-current steady-state conduction, especially in high-on-current conditions.
Test conditions: VCC=960V, IC=40A, VGE=0 to 15V
Driver Loss Comparison: Lonten IGBT LKB40N120UM1 total gate charge Qg is only 215.9nC, 26% lower than industry benchmark A and 12% lower than benchmark B. The driver charging loss per switch is lower, requiring lower output capability from the driver power supply.
Short-circuit tolerance comparison: The short-circuit endurance time of Lonten IGBT LKB40N120UM1 is basically comparable to mainstream domestic and international benchmark products, providing strong assurance for system reliability.
